Trying a class

  1. Email us in advance to let us know that you’re coming.
  2. Week 1 of a teaching block is the best time to try a class. See the teaching block start dates.
  3. Level 1 and solo dancing classes don’t require permission. Just come along.
  4. Level 2 or higher requires permission from an instructor. Typically instructors will promote students during classes in week 4 of a teaching block. Trying a class above Level 1? Ask for a Level Check.

The Level Check

If you have prior experience and want to try a class above Level 1, please come 15 minutes early to class and ask for a “Level Check” at the reception desk. A Level Check is a quick, informal dance with an instructor to determine which level would be the most appropriate starting point for that dance style for that student.

As each Latin dance school has their own syllabi and their own way of structuring their levels, please note that being in a certain level in one school might not equal the same level in another school.

A Level Check will normally involve only one dance style. If you want a second dance style to be checked, please ask for another Level Check before that class.

If you would like more detail about what you need to improve on to move to the next level, please book a private lesson by emailing us.

We vibe with humble students who are respectful. Every student in each level has earned their place in that level for that style. We do this to protect the integrity of our classes, to ensure the best possible experience and safety for all students, and to ensure that each student is in the level from which they will gain the most benefit.
